Connecting Your Email
Check your Sequences Settings for your current email connection status. ClickConnect Email and follow the authentication steps via the Microsoft pop-up. Once your mailbox is connected, click Manage to edit mailbox settings.
The email you connect must match your Metaview account email. Metaview does not support connecting a personal outlook.com or hotmail.com account unrelated to your organization’s Microsoft 365 tenant.
Permissions
When you connect an Outlook mailbox, Metaview requests delegated Microsoft Graph permissions. This means Metaview acts on your behalf and only within the connected mailbox. Microsoft’s consent screen describes the maximum capability associated with each permission. The descriptions below explain how Metaview uses these permissions in practice. For Microsoft’s official definitions, see the Microsoft Graph permissions reference.- Mail.Send – Required to send sequence emails from your connected Outlook mailbox and save them to your Sent Items folder.
- Mail.ReadWrite – Required to create and manage sequence emails, keep sequence activity synchronized, and detect replies so candidates aren’t contacted again after responding. Although Microsoft defines this permission broadly, Metaview uses it only for these sequence-related features.
- MailboxSettings.Read – Required to read mailbox settings, such as your time zone and automatic reply status, so emails can be sent correctly. This permission does not allow Metaview to modify your mailbox settings.
Set as your default mailbox
Set the toggle toenable to use the selected mailbox as your default mailbox when creating sequences.
Sending on Behalf of Others
Team members can be granted permission to send outreach sequences using your email address. This is useful for scenarios where a recruiter manages sequences on behalf of a hiring manager or colleague. In Proxy Sender Permissions, you can choose between:- Specific people — search for and select individual teammates to grant access. Only active members of your workspace can be granted send-on-behalf access.
- Entire team — allow anyone in your workspace to send outreach sequences on your behalf.
This feature does not share your email login or give general inbox access. It only lets selected colleagues send outreach sequences on your behalf and view the resulting sequence activity/replies.
Email Signature
When enabled, Metaview will automatically append your default Outlook email signature to all sequence emails. Toggle betweenEnabled and Disabled at any time.
When Enabled, you will see a signature preview. Click Reload signature to see an updated version of your signature. If you do not see a signature, you will need to add a signature to your Outlook account. Please see here for instructions.
Disconnecting Your Email
To disconnect your Outlook email, select your mailbox and clickDisconnect mailbox. This will:
- Clear your stored authentication tokens immediately
- Archive all send-on-behalf permissions you’ve granted to others
- Pause any active sequences that were using your email address
Disconnecting your email does not delete your sequences or candidate data — it only stops emails from being sent until you reconnect.
Troubleshooting
If you have trouble connecting your email to Metaview, try the following:- Ensure the email you’re connecting is the same one you use to log in to Metaview.
- Check with your IT team if you need admin approval to authorize Metaview in your Microsoft 365 tenant.
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting your email from Sequences Settings.
- If sequences are pausing unexpectedly, check whether your send-on-behalf permissions are still active, or whether the email you’re sending from has been disconnected.
