# Notion

> Connect Notion to use role briefs, hiring criteria and other pages in Metaview Sourcing.

Role briefs and hiring criteria often live in Notion. Bringing those pages into a Sourcing search helps you describe the role without copying everything into your prompt.

Connect your Notion account so the [Sourcing agent](https://support.metaview.ai/sourcing/overview.md) can find and read pages when you ask it to. The integration uses Notion's hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at `https://mcp.notion.com/mcp` and OAuth to authorise access.

## Requirements

* A Notion workspace membership with access to the pages you want to use. Notion guests cannot connect through MCP.
* A Metaview account with access to Sourcing and connectors enabled in your workspace.

## Connect Notion

**1. Open Notion settings**

In Metaview, open **Settings > Integrations** and select `Manage Notion`, or [open Notion settings directly](https://app.metaview.ai/?settings=notion).

**2. Sign in to Notion**

Select `Connect Notion`. Sign in to Notion, choose the workspace containing your pages and authorise access.

**3. Check the connection**

You will return to Metaview. Notion settings show `Notion connected.` and a `Connected` status when setup is complete.

## Use Notion in Sourcing

Open Sourcing and use the **Connectors** menu beside the message composer to select Notion for your search. Then tell the agent which page to use and what you want to do with it. Include a page title or link to help it find the right content.

For example:

```text theme={null}
Find the "Head of Engineering" role brief in Notion. Summarise the must-have experience and ask me to confirm the criteria before searching for candidates.
```

```text theme={null}
Read the "Customer Success Manager" hiring criteria in Notion. Use those criteria to find candidates in London with experience leading enterprise onboarding.
```

Notion MCP supports reading and updating content. Access depends on the connected Notion account's permissions. Review the access shown during authorisation and be specific about the actions you want the agent to take.

## Access and workspace sharing

Your Notion connection is personal by default. Each person can connect their own Notion account.

If you are a Metaview workspace admin, you can share your own connection. Open **Settings > Integrations > Manage Notion** and turn on `Share with workspace`. Workspace members can then select that connection from the **Connectors** menu.

> [!WARNING]
>
> A shared connection uses the connected Notion account's permissions, including its ability to update content. Workspace members can use it to access pages through that account, even if they do not have their own access in Notion. Share only a connection whose content and permissions are appropriate for your workspace.

Turn off `Share with workspace` to make the connection personal again. The connection owner manages reconnection and disconnection.

## Troubleshooting

| Problem | What to do |
| - | - |
| You cannot find Notion in Integrations | Check that you are in the intended Metaview workspace and that connectors are enabled. Contact [Metaview support](mailto:support@metaview.ai) if it is still missing. |
| Authorisation was cancelled or failed | Open Notion settings and try again using `Connect Notion` or `Reconnect`. Check that you are a member of the Notion workspace and ask your Notion admin about any restrictions on MCP access. |
| Notion is connected but the agent cannot use it | Open the **Connectors** menu in your Sourcing search and check that Notion is selected. |
| The agent cannot find a page | Check that the connected Notion account can open it in the workspace you authorised. Give the agent the exact page title or link. For a shared connection, ask its owner to check access. |
| The connection shows `Reconnect` | The connection owner should open Notion settings, select `Reconnect` and sign in again. If a shared connection is unavailable, ask its owner to reconnect it. |

## Disconnect Notion

Open **Settings > Integrations > Manage Notion** and select `Disconnect` on your connection. This stops further Notion requests through that connection, including for workspace members using it as a shared connection. Information already returned in a search remains in that conversation.
